Web and Education
The Web enabled new forms of education:
-
There are on-line encyclopaedias, some of them available for free like the user-generated Wikipedia and some not - like the Encyclopaedia Britannica. The Encyclopaedia Britannica has been always considered to be a very reliable source of information. But the study conducted by the journal Nature comparing the accuracy of online offerings from Encyclopaedia Britannica and Wikipedia found that both were about as accurate as each other on science.

E-learning is rapidly increasing. In some cases it may almost completely replace the old forms of education, but very offen it is being used in combination with face-to-face education. In such cases it is called "blended" learning.
-
Educational games become more and more sophisticated and popular. Computer games are being adapted to the education system. So education and entertainment are being combined.
